Regina Gibson Guilty of Felony Embezzlement from Duck Creek Ceremonial Grounds

MCN Citizen pleaded guilty to sixteen counts of felony uttering a forged instrument, one count of felony theft, and one count of felony embezzlement.

OKMULGEE, Okla. – Following a tip from a Mvskoke citizen, Mvskoke Media has obtained court records that show that Regina Gibson, a Mvskoke citizen, pleaded guilty to multiple crimes in July of 2024.

Gibson pleaded guilty to sixteen counts of uttering a forged instrument with the intent to defraud in an amount equal to or greater than five hundred dollars. Uttering a forged instrument refers to the crime of passing forged checks or promissory notes.

Gibson also pleaded guilty to one count of felony theft and one count of felony embezzlement.  According to the charging documents,

“Defendant fraudulently obtained approximately $7,645.00 from the Duck Creek Ceremonial Grounds account in 26 checks in amounts of less than $500 with the intent to permanently deprive it of these funds…….Defendant within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation on the day and year aforesaid did fraudulently appropriate the property or funds of the Duck Creek Ceremonial Grounds for purposes not intended or authorized by its owner, to-wit: Defendant did abuse her authority and made checks written with the intended purpose to obtain the funds by cashing those check and use the money for her own benefit.”

Gibson was sentenced to two years in prison, with seven years supervised probation.
