MVSKOKE RESERVATION – On December 9, the Land, Natural Resources and Cultural Preservation Committee held an in-person meeting.
The committee addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bills. All legislation passed through committee will be presented in the next session for full council approval.
TR 25-120 A tribal resolution of the MCN authorizing the Principal Chief to submit a grant application to the Department of Housing and Urban Development Indian Community Development Block Grant Program for Indian tribes and Alaska Native villages for construction of rental units in Okemah, Oklahoma passed with a vote of 2-0. Representative Mark Randolph sponsored this legislation.
According to the legislation, there is a need for rental units in Okemah, within this grant application proposal this can help the residents for the low to moderate Income American Indians/Alaskan Natives.
TR 25-121 A tribal resolution of the MCN authorizing the Principal Chief to execute a Memorandum of Agreement and to apply for federal funding through the Bureau of Indian Affairs Tribal Transportation Bridge Program to fund bridge constructions with Wagoner, Tulsa, Creek, Okmulgee, Muskogee and McIntosh counties, and Bixby and Tulsa cities, for ten (10) Bridge Placement projects passed with a vote of 3-0. Representative Galen Cloud sponsored this legislation.
According to the legislation, bridges have been identified that are structurally deficient and hazardous towards the public within certain locations. The costs will be paid within the awards through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL).
