OKMULGEE – The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Elder Services hosted its first Elder’s Halloween Bash on Oct. 27 at the Mvskoke Dome, welcoming 120 citizens for an afternoon of festive activities, including a costume contest, pumpkin decorating contest, and sugar-shuffle cake walk.

The event also featured informational booths from CMN Health and Wellness, MCN Social Services, and the MCN Health MAT/TPR Department.
MCN Elder Services Director Cynthia Smith (Mvskoke) said the event was the idea of one of the department’s Elder Advocates. She added that Elder Services is always looking for new and different ways to get Mvskoke elders out, involved, and active.

“Senior Services staff are totally committed to bringing new ideas that help with the MCN Elder’s community. We want to keep them active and independent for as long as possible. We enjoy seeing elders from the different communities coming together to fellowship and have a good time,” Smith said.
Smith heard that everyone was enthusiastic and happy that the department put on this event for them, and that they loved both the sugar shuffle and the costume contest. She said this Halloween Bash was a success, and they look forward to hosting it again next year.
“I would like to thank the Elder Services staff for their commitment to making each and every event fun and enjoyable for everyone. It takes a lot of logistical planning to plan for an event.”
