At the June 26th MCN National Council regular session, NCR 21-006 was passed with only one no vote coming from Rep. Robert Hufft.
NCR 21-006 is a National Council resolution publicly censuring Rep. Travis Scott for engaging in business transactions with the Nation while serving as an elected official. The resolution references Rep. Scotts business, Scott’s Native Products, as having violated section 4-101 of Title 37 of the MCN Code which forbids any officer or employee of the Muscogee Creek Nation from entering into business contracts or doing business with the Nation.
The resolution also references Title 31 of the MCN Code, which deals with the grounds for removing officers of the Nation, specifically section 1-104, subsection C, number 9. This section details that an officer can be removed for a conflict of business interest, if the officer engages in business of whatever nature, directly or indirectly with the Muscogee Creek Nation.
NCR 21-006 requests that Rep. Scott should immediately submit his resignation to the speaker of the National Council and that the resolution should be posted on all governmental sites of the Nation for a period of 30 days from the date of enactment.
Mvskoke Media has contacted the MCN Executive Branch to try to determine what business the Nation has done with Scott’s Native Products, and what oversight was conducted on the transaction.
We will have more on this developing story in future updates.
