MVSKOKE RESERVATION – On September 23, the Business, Finance and Justice/Land, Natural Resources and Cultural Preservation Joint Committee held an in-person meeting. All legislation passed through committee will be presented in the next session for full council approval unless otherwise noted.
The committee addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bills:
NCA 25-097 A law of the MCN authorizing the expenditure of grant funds awarded from the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Indian Energy for the benefit of the MCN Tribal Utility Authority passed with a vote of 8-0. Representative Dode Barnett sponsored this legislation.
MCN Tribal Utility Authority was awarded a grant in the amount of $2,241,892 to install ground-mounted solar photovoltaic panels at the Okemah Community Hospital. A match in the amount of $560,473 from the Local and Tribal Consistency Fund will also fund the project.
