OKMULGEE,Okla.- The 2025 Elder Gathering focused on fellowship and community while still giving attendees plenty of activities, games, and contests. The June 20 gathering offered golf pong, ring toss, basketball free throw, and woodwork and sofke contests in the Mvskoke Dome. Attendees were able to enjoy a meal together and visit.

For MCN citizens Brant Beaver (55) and Jean Froman (81) this year was their first to join in the gathering and both came to Okmulgee from Tulsa for the event.

“I heard about how much fun it was and that’s why I wanted to come see for myself, just to see how much fun it was and the activities that were taking place. I think that it’s a huge event that our elders are recognized,” Froman said.

While neither participated in activities, they were able to mingle and meet friends old and new. Beaver shared that he was able to see a lot of friends that he hadn’t seen in awhile.

Froman is proud that MCN offers this event for the elders. “I think that it’s wonderful for the fellowship of our elderly citizens and to see them having so much and enjoying each other and the activities that they can participate in. I think it’s great!” Froman said.
