MVSKOKE RESERVATION – On June 23, the Health, Education, and Wellness committee and the Land, Natural Resources, and Cultural Resources committee held a joint meeting in person. Passed legislation will go on to the council, unless otherwise noted.

The committee addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bills:

TR 24-097 A tribal resolution of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation authorizing the Principal Chief  to execute a real estate contract for the purchase of property in Okmulgee, Oklahoma passed with a vote of  8-1. It was sponsored by Representative Robyn Whitecloud.

The property is located at 1400 S. Wood Drive in Okmulgee. The MCN intends to use the property as a healthcare clinic. It is the former site of Medwise Urgent Care. During discussion Timothy Hicks stated that the building is move-in ready. This will move the current express care clinic at the Okmulgee clinic into this facility and provide expanded services and hours.

NCA 24-085 a law of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation authorizing the expenditure of third-party funds in the amount of $1,970,000 from the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health to be used toward the purchase of property located in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma passed with a vote of 8-1. It was sponsored by Rep. Whitecloud.

This legislation refers to TR 24-097.  Mr. Hicks stated in discussion that walk-in services are needed and valuable for citizens. Funding is through the Indian Health Service (IHS).
