MVSKOKE RESERVATION – On April 14, the Land, Natural Resources, and Cultural Preservation Committee held an in-person meeting.
The committee addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bills. All legislation passed through the committee will be presented in the next session for full council approval.
TR 26-023 A tribal resolution of the MCN authorizing the Principal Chief to execute a Memorandum of Agreement with the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Oklahoma Archaeological Survey, and the Oklahoma State Historic Preservation Office for the removal of the bridge on Oak Drive over Fred Creek, Tulsa County, Oklahoma, passed with a vote of 4-0. Representative Robyn Whitecloud sponsored this bill.
As stated in the bill, a development property in South Tulsa includes a bridge. This bridge needs to be removed for the project to move forward, and to do so, the parties must sign an MOU.
TR 26-025 A tribal resolution of the MCN authorizing the Principal Chief to execute a real estate contract for the purchase of property in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, passed with a vote of 4-0. Rep. Whitecloud sponsored this legislation.
MCN wants to purchase a property in Okmulgee County. This purchase can also expand land use, and MCN can utilize this property. The property is located at 4201 North Wood Drive, Okmulgee.
NCA 26-058 A law of the MCN appropriating funds to be used toward the purchase of property located in Okmulgee, Oklahoma passed/BFJ with a vote of 4-0. Rep. Whitecloud sponsored this legislation.
The owner of this property is asking for $475,000 for the purchase. MCN will also need funds for this purchase, including title insurance, title opinions, surveys, environmental studies, and applicable taxes, as stated in the bill. The property is located at 4201 North Wood Drive, Okmulgee.
NCA 26-059 A law of the MCN amending MCNCA title 5, § 2-1115 entitled “Funding” passed with a vote of 3-1. Representative Galen Cloud sponsored this legislation.
In the bill, funds that are from “Land Acquisitions Assistance” have not been used this fiscal year. This bill proposes transferring Land Acquisitions Assistance funds to the Ceremonial grounds, Church Grant, and Emergency Assistance.
