OKMULGEE, Okla.- MCN will be hosting their annual Christamas event to be held at the Council House for the first time. There will be different games, vendors, door prizes, photo booths and free hot chocolate. This event is free for anyone to attend and it will be happening on Dec. 5, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

MCN Tourism and Events Coordinator Alex McCosar (Mvskoke) spoke about what will be happening throughout the evening and what activities they will have. This event usually takes place at MCN Dome for the Christmas carnival, however this will be their first year at the council.

This is McCosar’s second year helping with the Christmas event. Last year’s turnout filled the location with citizens and vendors. This year it will be a collaboration with the Okmulgee Mainstreet’s Festival of Lights Parade and MCN Tourism and Events, according to McCosar.

The Christmas carnival will be happening before, during and after the parade. Children can enjoy many games along with small prizes.

The games will be Christmas themed such as “pin the nose on the reindeer” and “wreath toss”.

“Most are just simple holiday themed carnival-type games geared towards children, we try to add a new one each year,” McCosar said.

For this year’s door prize there will be tickets for an upcoming concert for this month.

“Like the festival, it is a great creative itch that our department gets to scratch,” McCosar said. “This year, our department designed some Christmas themed cutouts for people to take pictures in. I’m excited to see people take pictures with those.”

“It looks to be quite chilly that evening, so dress warm and have some fun with us!”
