OKMULGEE, Oklahoma – A Muscogee (Creek) Nation National Council Land, Natural Resources and Cultural Preservation Committee meeting was held Nov. 7 at the Mound Building in Okmulgee.
All passed legislation is subject to the full council approval during the regular session.
LNC addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bills:
TR 21-155 Authorizing the Principal Chief to execute a grant agreement with the Native American Agriculture Fund for the benefit of the MCN Natural Resource Conservation District. Representative Charles McHenry sponsored the resolution, which passed in 4-0 vote.
MCN Natural Resource Conservation District was awarded the 2021 Native American Agricultural Fund grant in the amount of $197,060.73. The grant was awarded to provide educational and economic development resources aimed at improving the wealth skills of Native farmers and ranchers through the use of aquaponics by providing training and resources to help procure and operate their own aquaponics system.
NCA 21-128 Authorizing the expenditure of the 2021 Native American Agricultural Fund grant for the benefit of the MCN Natural Resource Conservation District. Rep. McHenry sponsored the legislation, which passed 4-0.
MCN Natural Resource Conservation District was awarded the 2021 Native American Agricultural Fund grant in the amount of $199, 305.57. The grant funds will be used to improve access to capital by providing grants to beginning farmers and ranchers.
NCA 21-129 Authorizing the expenditure of the 2021 Native American Agricultural Fund grant for the benefit of the MCN Natural Resource Conservation District. Representative Charles McHenry sponsors this legislation. The motion was passed in 4-0 vote.
