Darin Jackson Tarpalechee, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 9 at the age of 43. Darin was born on January 13, 1981 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Edward and Rowena Tarpalechee.
Darin spent his entire life in Okmulgee where he graduated from Morris High School. He had a deep love for his community and was known for his warm, caring nature. Darin was passionate about a variety of interests that brought joy to those around him. An ardent supporter of OU football, he cherished attending games and was thrilled to witness his first Thunder game. Darin’s enthusiasm extended to his love for wrestling and video games. Mario Kart and Rad Racer were his favorites during family game nights.
A dedicated family man, Darin treasured his time at the lake with relatives and friends. He especially adored his great-nephews and great-nieces, finding immense joy in their company. As a man of faith, Darin was an active member of Big Cussetah United Methodist Church, where he found strength and community.
Darin worked as a line tech at Whirlpool for 13 years until health issues forced him to leave the position he had so dedicatedly held. Despite the challenges he faced, Darin remained a pillar of support for his family, always willing to lend a helping hand.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Rowena Tarpalechee, and his grandparents, Henry and Elizabeth Tarpalechee, and Shawney and Annie Hardridge. Darin is survived by his father, Edward Tarpalechee, his brothers Brian Tarpalechee of Wilson, OK, Eddy Tarpalechee of Okmulgee, OK, Jay Tarpalechee and his wife Stephanie of Okmulgee, OK, and his sisters Shera Tarpalechee of Okmulgee, OK, and Stefanie Wilson of Natura, OK. He is also remembered by numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
A viewing and visitation for Darin was held at Schaudt’s Okmulgee Funeral Service on Aug 14.
A funeral to celebrate Darin’s life was held on Aug. 15 at the Big Cussetah United Methodist Church, with a burial at the Tarpalechee Family Cemetery.
