Adam Jones and Lanissa Melton have appealed the MCN District Courts decision on their petitions for Fraud and Irregularities to the MCN Supreme Court.
According to District Court records, a joint notice of appeal was filed with the court on October 11th.
Mvskoke Media formally requested a copy of the appeal from the MCN Supreme Court, but received the following response in an official letter from Chief Justice Richard Lerblanc.
“Pursuant to M(C)NCA Title 27, App. 2, Rule 17(C), “the record compiled by the Supreme Court for a completed case is Tribal Record and open to the Public for viewing …”. As SC-2021-07 is still pending in the Supreme Court it is not Tribal record or open to the public for viewing at this time”
According to Title 19 of MCN code, the Supreme Court now has a window from October 14th to October 21st to set a hearing on the appeal, at the conclusion of which an oral decision will be immediately rendered, followed by a written order and opinion no later than 3 calendar days after the conclusion of the hearing.
Mvskoke Media will have ongoing coverage of this developing story.
