Ester, to her family and friends, was born on April 11th, 1952, in Oklahoma City, OK, and was the daughter of Sam and Mandy (Brown) Scott. She grew up in the Oklahoma City area and attended Jones Academy in Hartshorne, OK. She loved playing basketball and the clarinet in the band. Growing up she had a happy large family of four brothers and four sisters; Elizabeth, George, Sallie, Wilson, Mabel, Randy, Minnie, and Billy. After graduating from high school, she attended nursing school at Gordon Cooper in Shawnee where she became an LPN.
She dedicated her life to traveling around Oklahoma, providing nursing care to whatever facilities needed her most. When she was not working, she was a devoted mother, aunt, sister and friend. Her grandchildren had a really big fan in Ester. She adored them. She loved music and was a big fan of Motown, Al Greene and Percy Sledge. She was happy when she went to the Stomp Grounds and spent time there whenever possible. She moved to Tahlequah and raised her family there. Her door was always open to her family and friends. She loved a good murder mystery, ID Channel was a favorite. She loved hunting for a bargain at yard sales and thrift stores. She enjoyed a good cup of tea or diet Pepsi and a newspaper or tabloid to go with it. Ester loved plants, her ivys and ferns. Elephant ears were always admired. She was strong willed and knew her mind, and had no problem expressing how she felt about most things. She was kind, loving and had a heart of gold. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for the family and friends that she loved. Her life wasn’t easy, she lost her mother and father, as well as her son, Mick. She passed from this life on September 5th, 2024 in Tahlequah, OK. She was 72 years old and will be greatly missed by all who knew her healing touch over the years.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother and father, her son Mick, her brothers, George Scott, Wilson Scott, Randy Scott and Billy Scott, three sisters, Sallie Wise, Mabel Scott, and Elizabeth Scott Meely and her grandson, Mason.
Those left to cherish her life include her son, Michael Factor of Tahlequah, OK, and sister, Minnie Wauqua and her husband Wayne of Holdenville, OK. She will live on in her twelve grandchildren, Michael Factor Jr., Matthew Factor and wife Cheyenne, Moze Factor and wife Melissa, Chloe Wallace, Aunika Factor, Cynthia Factor, Mason Wells, Raylan Bailey, Dayahvion Vann, Jerome Vann, Kyren Vann, and Iziah Deerinwater. She also leaves eight great grandchildren, Blaze Duncan, Lyncoln Duncan, Bosley Duncan, Lydia Factor, Brixlee Factor, Leviticus Factor, Lyanna Factor, and Dontrell Vann. She leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and coworkers far too numerous to mention.
Funeral services for Lydia “Ester” Scott-Factor were held on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the Reed-Culver Chapel with Rev. Bill Holcomb officiating. Her family had a visitation on Tuesday, Sept. 10th beginning at Reed Culver Chapel. She will be laid to rest at Greenleaf Cemetery next to her son.
Pallbearers for Ester include Matthew Factor, Moze Factor, Acee Allen, Christopher Mitchell, Brandon Mitchell, and Tyler Mitchell. Honorary Pallbearers include Robert Allen, Mark Allen, Sam Scott, Michael Factor Jr., Drew Scott, and SB Carnes.
