TULSA, Oklahoma– The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Casino’s hiatus has been extended until at least April 15, according to a recent press release issued by SixPR on March 26.
The tribal gaming facilities have been closed due to safety precautions in the wake of COVID-19 since March 16.
River Spirit Casino Resort Chief Executive Officer Pat Crofts made the announcement of the extended closure.
‘As a primary employer in the City of Tulsa and throughout many smaller communities in northeast Oklahoma, we want to continue to support our employees to the best of our ability,’ Crofts said. ‘We have already faced great adversity together during the abrupt closure last year due to the historic flooding and its aftermath.’
‘We want to do everything we can to ease the anxiety and financial burden while our employees are home with their loved ones at this critical time.’
According to the release, MCN Principal Chief David Hill has confirmed that MCN casino employees will continue to be paid through April 15. The 2,200 employee’s payroll totals about $3.4 Million every two weeks.
