MVSKOKE RESERVATION- On June 11, the Health, Education, and Welfare Committee held an in-person meeting. Passed legislation will go on to the next full council meeting, unless otherwise noted.
The committee addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bills:
TR 24-062 A tribal resolution of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation confirming the nomination of Clarence Johnson to serve on the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Citizenship Board passed with a vote of 3-0, with Representative Anna Marshall abstaining. It was sponsored by Representative Leonard Gouge.
If confirmed by full council, Johnson’s term will begin upon confirmation and will end on June 1, 2029. During discussion Representative Harjo made statements appreciating Johnson’s language and cultural knowledge. Rep. Marshall stated her abstention was based upon familial relation.
Other business included updates on the health systems’ finances and elder services.
