TULSA, Oklahoma – Meredith Good Voice-Birdcreek, a Mvskoke citizen and the Policy & Grants Manager for the Office of Child Support Enforcement, has a lot to say about what has guided her through her struggles.
“All I knew was that I wanted to be the best mother to my kids.”
Good Voice-Birdcreek received a $5,000 scholarship from the Muscogee (Creek) Nation’s Scholarship Foundation for the 2024-2025 academic year. Recently, she was honored by Tulsa Community College, where she is currently working toward her associate’s degree, in a spotlight published in April 2025.
Good Voice-Birdcreek is a hard worker, being a single mother of five children, yet she works on multiple committees outside of her position with the MCN Office of Child Support Enforcement. While working at Child Support, she has served on the Oklahoma Tribal Child Support Association (O.T.C.S.A) Board of Directors, O.T.C.S.A Conference Committee, Outreach Committee, and the Child Support Awareness Committee.
In addition to her committee work, Good Voice-Birdcreek has recently attained her certification to work as a facilitator for the Native American Fatherhood and Families Association, where she leads a class titled “Linking Generations by Strengthening Relationships.”
Good Voice-Birdcreek shared that it was not an easy path to this point. “I started working as a receptionist for the MCN Office of Child Support in November 2018 and have worked my way up from Receptionist, Customer Service Representative, Case Specialist, Case Manager, and Policy & Grants Manager,” Good Voice-Birdcreek said.
Good Voice-Birdcreek was one of only ten people to receive this scholarship as a part of the Aristocrat Cokv Hecv Honors Program. The scholarship will last throughout the 2024-2025 academic year.
She described the scholarship as a tremendous blessing and explained that one of her biggest influences was her stepfather, the late David Proctor. It was his teachings that helped her get through the scholarship essay. “He wasn’t just my stepdad. He was my Mekko and taught me so many things about our culture. I am forever grateful for his teachings, and I was beyond blessed to have such an extraordinary father figure for so many years. While writing my essay I laughed, I cried, but I also healed a little,” Good Voice-Birdcreek shared.
“I believe in my heart that it was the essay part of my application that stood out to the scholarship selection committee. To this day I am honored and humbled to have been selected for such a prestigious award.”
According to the foundation, the program was designed to “award Mvskoke scholars that exhibit commitments to tribal leadership, participation, and community service.” The scholarship is among the largest that has been granted by the MCN Scholarship Foundation.
Good Voice-Birdcreek hopes to use the scholarship to help her family and advance her education further, with plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree and go to law school.
