The following is a press release from the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.

OKMULKE, Oklv. — The Muscogee Fund, the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) established by the Muscogee Nation in 2013, has received confirmation that it has been awarded $1,265,000 in funds from the 2024 Native American CDFI Assistance (NACA) Program.

This historic amount is the Mvskoke Fund’s fourth consecutive grant received with this program, and totals an increase of over $500,000 from the previous award. Of the 357 CDFIs awarded, Mvskoke Fund was in the top 25 for dollars awarded across the nation, and number one in the state of Oklahoma.

“This is an incredible achievement for the Mvskoke Fund and for the Muscogee Nation,” Mvskoke Fund CEO Robby Deere said. “I’m just so proud of my staff and the team here, because now we can help even more Muscogee citizens follow their dreams in starting a business.”

The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s NACA Program generates economic opportunity for Native communities by supporting the creation and expansion of Native CDFI’s with these awards. This allows Native CDFI’s to bolster their respective communities in a host of areas including job creation, improving housing affordability and providing financial services and counseling.

The awards are a highly competitive process that spans several months. The Mvskoke Fund received it’s full request from an application submitted in early February.

“We anticipate being able to fund an additional 30-40 businesses with this funding over the next fiscal year,” Deere said.
