OKMULGEE – The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Higher Education and Native Youth Community Project (NYCP) College and Career Fair is always looking ahead. With this year’s theme Okētv Vtat Vheccet, or Look to the Future, the fair wanted to offer students guidance and support for what comes after graduation.
“We just want to bring awareness to the different career pathways that students can take, whether it’s a college, university, or going into the workforce,” stated MCN NYCP College and Career Advisor Shannon Barnett (Mvskoke)
“We have different workshops just to help them prepare with resumes, financial aid. We want to help them be prepared for life after high school.”
For students who missed the event, NYCP is preparing a video with MCN Communications to provide an overview of the event, highlighting the many resources available. Barnett hopes this video can help generate more excitement and, hopefully, see more students come next year.
