Over two dozen child abusers indicted in Operation Clean Sweep II

TVLSE, Oklv. – Clint Johnson, a U.S. Attorney, recently announced that at least 25 child predators have been indicted on various charges as a part of Operation Clean Sweep II. The operation involved the U.S. Department of Justice and at least 16 different federal, state, local, and tribal agencies, including the Muscogee Nation’s Lighthorse Police Department, and is designed to, in the words of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Oklahoma, hold child predators accountable for their actions all across the Northern District of the state. 

“Data collected by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children shows a 300% increase of online coercion and enticement of minors across the United States. My office is committed to working with law enforcement to help train, educate online safety, and actively pursue those who try to exploit children within the Northern District of Oklahoma,” Attorney Johnson said in a press release by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

During the investigation, which was launched in April of 2024 by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Police, in conjunction with the U.S. Marshal Service, the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service, and the Mayes County Sheriff’s Office, conducted compliance checks on more than 525 sex offenders, who are legally required to register and keep in compliance with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, or SORNA. During these checks, more than 50 offenders were found to not be in compliance with SORNA. 

“The production and dissemination of child sexual abuse materials is a reprehensible offense that has no place in our society,” Homeland Security Special Agent Lester R. Hayes Jr said in a statement.
