TVLSE, Okla. – The Greater Tulsa Indian Affairs Commission held its monthly meeting May 16, where they honored select Native American students in the Tulsa Public School District.
The Tulsa Public Schools Indian Education Department partners with the commission annually to recognize one Native American student from every high school in the district for their Indian Education Student of Excellence Award. Honorees are selected based on academics, cultural activities, and leadership activities. Some of the recipients were in attendance to receive their certificates. Ariona Paylor – Mvskoke (Creek) Nation, Central High School
Derek Marlow – Cherokee Nation, Daniel Webster High School
Dyhani Atkins – Mvskoke (Creek) Nation, East Central High School
Elaina Workman – Mvskoke (Creek) Nation, Edison Preparatory High School
