WELEETKA, Oklahoma– Muscogee (Creek) citizen Kade Robertson was born into agricultural family.

The son of Timothy and Kim Roberston, is a sophomore at Weleetka High School. Robertson is a member of the Weleetka FFA program where he has been showing species such as pigs since he was 3 years old.

“I’ve been showing all species since that age,” Robertson said. “Some of those species are cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. I have been raised up around livestock.”

Roberston enjoys showing cattle, because he likes their temperament and how he can work with them more. Showing livestock is important to Robertson, he said it teaches what hard work and dedication is all about.

According to MCN’s Ag Youth Program Manager Billy Haltom, Robertson had a really good county show. Robertson participated in the Okfuskee County Livestock Show and the Oklahoma Youth Expo (OYE) Show earlier this year.

“In the 2021 Okfuskee County Livestock Show, I won a total of six belt buckles,” Robertson said.

Robertson won three belt buckles under the reserve grand champion, and three under champion in various categories. He also won breed champion in the OYE show.

Robertson has placed in many other livestock shows including the MCN All-Indian Livestock show. Although he has only done a few shows this year, Robertson said winning in those two shows have been his favorite memory so far.

Robertson plans to continue showing animals throughout high school and hopefully beyond.
