HENRYETTA, Oklahoma – After a crazy year of event cancellations schools like Henryetta decided to proceed with having prom.

This was especially exciting prom for two young Muscogee citizens. Cheyanne Thomas and Austin Green were named the Henryetta Prom King and Queen 2021.

Thomas is the daughter of Casey and Amanda Thomas and Jaylaina Rampenthal. Green is the son of Timmy and Shelly Cantrell.

According to Thomas, the high school sweethearts were excited and surprised to both win.

“Everybody voted when they got to prom, I thought it was going be between me and my friend. We really didn’t know if we would win it or not,” Thomas explained.

“We are glad to be positive representatives of the MCN.”

Thomas is a lifetime Henryetta Knight. She is involved in cheer, cross-country, track, yearbook, student council and National Honor Society.

Thomas plans to attend OSUIT this summer leading into fall to finish her associate’s degree then on to another school for a physical therapy assistants program.

“I plan to use MCN services where I can to help me with school,” Thomas said.

Green attended Yardeka Headstart then Henryetta starting in kindergarten. He is involved in cross-country, track and National Honor Society.

Due to his accomplishments in cross-country, Green has been invited to participate in the Oklahoma Native All State for boy’s cross-country.

Thomas claims that Green is unsure of his future plans as of right now.

“He has a lot of offers to run track at different colleges but he’s not sure he wants to do that yet,” Thomas said. “He has thought about going to OSUIT and becoming an electrician.”

In October, the couple will have been together four years and plans to stick together Thomas said.
