OKMULGEE, Oklahoma – A joint Muscogee (Creek) Nation National Council Business, Finance and Justice/Land, Natural Resource and Cultural Preservation Committee meeting was held in person and teleconference Aug 23 at the Mound Building.
All legislation will go before the full Council during the regular session.
The HEW and BFJ addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bills:
NCA 22-093 A law of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation appropriating funds for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Department to purchase motorcycles for a military funeral and detail unit. Representative Thomasene Yahola Osborne sponsored the bill, which was postponed indefinitely.
$83,691.00 will be appropriated to the MCN Lighthorse Department and the Veterans Affairs Office to purchase three Electra Glide police motorcycles for military funeral escort. This is considered one of the highest honors the MCN can provide for deceased veterans and their families.
