OKMULGEE, Okla. – The Muscogee (Creek) National Land, Natural Resources and Cultural Preservation Committee held a meeting in the Mound Building on March 11.
The committee addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bills. All legislation passed through committee will be presented in the next session for full council approval.
TR 25-019 A tribal resolution of the MCN authorizing the Principal Chief to execute a contract with Trane Technologies for the benefit of the Citizens Services building. Representative Galen Cloud sponsored this legislation, which passed 4-0.
If adopted into law, legislation allows for MCN to upgrade technology systems for the Citizens Services Building.
NCA 25-029 A law of the MCN authorizing the expenditure of grant funds awarded from the United States Department of the Interior for the benefit of the Office of Environmental Services. Representative Charles McHenry sponsored this legislation, which passed 4-0.
If this legislation is adopted into law, the Office of Environmental Services has been awarded $2,624,051 in grant funds. According to the department, these funds will plug wells identified, inventoried, and assessed in the Phase 1 Program Development of the Tribe’s Orphaned Well Program.
NCA 25-030 A law of the MCN amending MCNCA Title 28, Chapter 8 entitled “Building Code” to replace with the Life Safety Division. Representative Robyn Whitecloud sponsored this legislation, which passed 4-0.
The purpose of the law is to provide enforceable quality standards for building construction and improvements for the electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, as well as fire suppression and notifications in such buildings so as to protect the health and safety of Muscogee (Creek) Nation citizens and the general public..
NCA 25-031 A law of the MCN establishing the MCN Life Safety Division Revolving Fund. Rep. Whitecloud sponsored this legislation, which passed 4-0.
If this legislation is adopted into law, is to set up a revolving fund for the Nation’s Life Safety Division in to collect/receive funds from issued permits and performed inspections.
