MVSKOKE RESERVATION- On March 12, the Land, Natural Resources, and Cultural Preservation Committee held an online meeting. Passed legislation will go on to a full council meeting, unless otherwise noted.
The committee addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bills:
TR 24-035 A tribal resolution of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation authorizing the Bureau of Indian Affairs, on behalf of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, to execute a utility right-of-way agreement with the city of Coweta on, over, or across certain property held USA in trust for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation located in Wagoner County passed with a vote of 3-0. It was sponsored by Representative Mark Randolph and co-sponsored by Representative Charles McHenry.
The legislation will give the city of Coweta a 20-year right of way on the property for sewer and manhole access.
NCA 24-023 A law of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation amending MCNCA Title 5, chapter 2 entitled “Financial Assistance” and amending MCNCA Title 37, chapter 2 “Budget and Finance” in the amount of $88,000 passed to the BFJ committee with a vote of 2-0-1, with Representative Galen Cloud abstaining. It was sponsored by Rep. Randolph and co-sponsored by Representative Robyn Whitecloud.
The legislation increases the amount of assistance, grants, and programs available to Mvskoke ceremonial grounds and churches.
