LNC passes amendment for FY 2025 funding for Ceremonial Grounds and Churches

River Network Grant will go towards sustainable land management and environmental education for the MCN.

MVSKOKE RESERVATION – The Muscogee (Creek) National Land, Natural Resources and Cultural Preservation Committee held a meeting in the Mound Building on May 6.

The committee addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bills. All legislation passed through committee will be presented in the next session for full council approval.

TR 25-033 A tribal resolution of the MCN authorizing the Principal Chief to execute a real estate contract for the purchase of property in Okmulgee County, Okla. passed with a vote of 4-0. Representative Robyn Whitecloud sponsored this legislation.

This property will be used for the Nation, and it will help expand the land use.

NCA 25-047 A law of the MCN amending MCNCA Title 5, 2-115 entitled “Funding” passed with a vote of 4-0. Representative Mark Randolph sponsored this legislation.

This amendment addresses funding and assistance of Ceremonial Grounds and/or Churches for the Fiscal Year 2025. The bill addresses funding for Green Corn and supportive Ceremonial assistance, Church camps and Mission trip grants. 

NCA 25-049 A law of the MCN authorizing the expenditure of the River Network Grant for the benefit of the MCN Conservation District passed with a vote of 4-0. Rep. Randolph sponsored this legislation.

The River Network Grant in the amount of $72,564 will be used to promote sustainable land management and environmental education within the MCN. According to the bill, there has already been engagement with AIAN students and educators in various programs to strengthen community resilience. 

NCA 25-050 A law of the MCN appropriating funds in the amount of $4 million to be used toward the purchase of property located in Okmulgee County, Okla passed with a vote of 4-0. Rep. Whitecloud sponsored this legislation.

There is a purchase sale agreement for the Okmulgee County property that includes  other costs such as title insurance, title opinions, surveys, environmental studies, and applicable taxes.
