MCN Lighthorse land and aerial search help find missing person

OKMULKE EKVNTVCKV – On Aug 8, Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Police Department, with drone support from the MCN UAS Special Operation Squadron (M.N.U.S.O.S.) located a missing and endangered individual near Wilson. 

According to the MCN Lighthorse Police Department, the MCN Lighthorse Emergency Response Team (LH ERT) along with M.N.U.S.O.S. set up a command post in the area where the individual was last seen and began a search on foot while also using ATVs and drones. 

The individual was located in a wooded area by officers and the UAS. The individual had suffered minor injuries but was in stable condition and was taken by Okmulgee County EMS to a hospital.  

In a public statement, the MCN LPD shared, “The M.N.U.S.O.S. is relieved the missing individual was located. The M.N.U.S.O.S. also asks the public to report suspicious behavior from individuals. It may save a life.” 

According to the National Institute of Justice 2024 Biannual Report, Oklahoma ranks second nationally in American Indian/Alaskan Native missing person cases. Oklahoma is also in the top ten nationally of unresolved missing person cases and in the top ten in American Indian/Alaskan Native unidentified persons cases.
