RIP seeks to provide legal services to citizens

OKMULGEE, Oklahoma – A Muscogee (Creek) Nation National Council Health, Education and Welfare Committee meeting was held on December 7 at the Mound Building.

All passed legislation is subject to full council approval during the regular session.

HEW addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bills:

TR 22-171 Authorizing the Principal Chief to execute an agreement between the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences on behalf of the MCNDH. Representative Robert Hufft sponsored the resolution, which passed 4-0.

The current agreement needs to be renewed or extended with National Council Approval.

TR 22-172 Authorizing the Principal Chief to execute a contract with Toast, Inc. for the benefit of the MCNDH. Rep. Hufft sponsored the resolution, which passed 4-0.

The contract will provide specific management software and a one-time payment of $4,725.55 and $200 monthly.

TR 22-173 Authorizing the Principal Chief to execute a contract with RLDATIX for the benefit of the MCNDH. Representative Robert Hufft sponsored the resolution, which passed 4-0.

The contract will provide particular contract and compliance management software and an annual payment of $22,563.

TR 22-174 Authorizing the Principal Chief to execute a contract agreement between the MCN and Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, Inc. To provide legal services for the MCN Reintegration program. Rep. Anna Marshall sponsors the resolution, which passed 4-0.

The RIP seeks to provide legal services to its program participants.

TR 22-175 Authorizing the Principal Chief to submit a grant application to the United States Department of Agriculture to benefit the Food Distribution Program. Rep. Marshall sponsored the resolution, which passed 4-0.

The appropriation of $4,375 will be a leveraged resource for the Food program to use in the grant application process.
