OKMULGEE, Oklahoma – Students passionate about the media, whether it is graphic design, journalism or marketing will have an opportunity to do an internship with Mvskoke Media beginning spring 2022.
The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Scholarship Foundation will be giving one $2,000 scholarship from Mvskoke Media. The scholarship is an incentive award for successful completion of an internship program with the department.
Candidates will be expected to produce real work for the department that will be subject to critique, deadlines and Mvskoke Media standards as well as the standards of customers and the broader industry. The candidates must demonstrate a certain level of competency and experience in the media field through portfolios and references and are expected to follow department and tribal policy/law.
This scholarship is purposely financing one Muscogee (Creek) student who may not have the financial needs to further his/her education. This award can be utilized to pay for the required cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies, testing or examination fees, transportation, or other incidental required cost related to the cost of the higher education, technical or vocational technical school. The funding is awarded to a Muscogee (Creek) student who complete the internship.
To be eligible for the Mvskoke Media Scholarship, the applicant must be an enrolled citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. They must be currently attending an institution of higher education or enrolled as a first-time entering student. Applicants must agree to authorize the Scholarship Foundation Program to publicize the scholarship award, if selected. They must also be pursuing a career path in graphic design, journalism or marketing. Participants are required to work 200 hours throughout the internship to completes the program.
All applications are reviewed and selected by a Scholarship Committee of the Scholarship Foundation Program. All applicants are notified of scholarship status by mail at the conclusion of the selection process. Applications are available and deadline is Dec. 15.
