Council approves purchase of former cancer care center

OKMULGEE, Oklahoma – A Muscogee (Creek) Nation National Council Emergency Session meeting was held June 10 at the Mound Building Auditorium.

 

LNC addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bills:

 

TR 21-095     Resolution authorizing the Principal Chief to execute a Temporary Operating Permit with Entertaining Angels for the operation of one temporary fireworks sales facility on tribal trust land. Sponsored by Rep. James Jennings

 

Entertaining Angels will sell fireworks to raise funds for the less fortunate on tribal property with a lease for four days to a month. Do pass, 12-0

 

TR 21-097     Resolution authorizing the Principal Chief to execute a non-binding Letter of Intent for the purchase of land located in Okmulgee County, OK. Sponsored by Rep. Adam Jones III

 

Located north of Gun Club Rd and N3990 Rd/Prairie Bell Rd. Approx. 5,570 acres to be used for the expansion of Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources programs and future site for commerce opportunities. Do pass, 12-0

 

T 21-098        Resolution authorizing the Principal Chief to execute a certain agreement between Expedition Properties LLC and the MCN Dept. of Health. Sponsored by Rep. Lucian Tiger III

 

The MCNDH desires to enter into an “Agreement” to allow a purchase of certain real property to allow for the expansion of hospital services. Do pass, 12-0

 

NCA 21-066   Law amending MCNCA Title 31, 3-101 entitled, “Compensation for certain officers or employees of the MCN.” Sponsored by Rep. Lucian Tiger III

 

Amendment allows for Health Department Professionals to be added to the list of certain officers and employees of the MCN. Do pass, 12-0

 

NCA 21-067   Law appropriating funds to be used for the operating budget for the newly purchased hospital, formerly known as the Cancer Treatment Centers of America – Tulsa, Located in Tulsa, OK for the remainder of the fiscal year 2021. Sponsored by Rep. Lucian Tiger III

 

Funding is needed in the amount of $16,775,515.00 to cover the operating budget for the remainder of the fiscal year for the new hospital appropriated from the Health Third Party Investment Fund account. Do pass, 12-0

 

NCA 21-068   Law authorizing a budget modification in excess of 10% for the Muscogee Nation Youth Council. Sponsored by Rep. William Lowe

 

The MNYC wishes to make this modification in order to reallocate certain excess funds for traveling and use the funds for other expenses such as youth activities and program supplies. Do pass, 12-0
