OKMULGEE, Oklahoma — A Muscogee (Creek) Nation National Council Land, Natural Resources and Cultural Preservation Committee meeting was held March 22 at the Mound building in Okmulgee.

The following grant programs were approved through LNC:

Muscogee (Creek) Nation Camps and Camp House Grants

Hickory Ground Ceremonial Ground – Robin Soweka of $8,000

Soweka commented, “There is a certain time we can do any type of work and we have not started yet. We do have a contractor for the grounds.” Committee passed 4-0.

Yeager Mission United Methodist Church – Norman Franks of $6,948.09

Franks was absent. Grant application was all in order. Committee passed 4-0.

Muscogee (Creek) Nation Church and Ceremonial Ground Grants

Salt Creek Indian Baptist Church – Samuel Fish of $50,000

Application submitted to rebuild camp house (individual). Three camp houses remain on the grounds, church still uses them to serve a meal on first Sunday and fourth Sunday. Committee passed 4-0.
