OKMULGEE, Oklahoma — A Muscogee (Creek) Nation National Council Health, Education and Welfare Committee meeting was held April 13 at the Mound Building in Okmulgee.
All passed legislation will go before the full Council during the regular session April 30.
HEW addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bills:
TR 22-056 Authorizing the Principal Chief to execute a certain agreement between the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health and Ted Conferences, LLC. Representative Mary Crawford sponsored the resolution, which was postponed for one month with a vote of 4-0.
An agreement between MCNDH and TED Conferences LLC will allow MCNDH to license TED Talk Videos for use by the Behavioral Health Service.
TR 22-057 Authorizing the Principal Chief to execute a certain agreement between the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health and Philips North American, LLC. Rep. Crawford sponsored the resolution, which passed 4-0.
An agreement between MCNDH and Philips North America, LLC will allow MCNDH to purchase a BiPAP machine and a ventilator.
TR 22-058 Authorizing the Principal Chief to execute a certain agreement between the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health and Fujifilm Sonosite, INC. Rep. Crawford sponsored the resolution, which passed 4-0.
An agreement between MCNDH and FUJIFILM Sonosite, Inc will allow MCNDH to purchase ultrasound equipment.
TR 22-059 Authorizing the Principal Chief to execute a Data Exchange Request Form (DXFR) Request for information from the Social Security Administration. Rep. Anna Marshal sponsored the resolution, which passed 4-0.
A Data Exchange Request Form Request for Information from the Social Security Administration, a federal agency, must be submitted to complete benefit verifications and obtain status on claims filed.
NCA 22-035 Authorizing the expenditure of the Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families low-income Home Energy Assistance program funds for the benefit of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Social Services program. Rep. Crawford sponsored the resolution, which passed 4-0.
MCN Social Services Program was awarded $263,226.00 from the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, to be used for cooling and crisis funds.
NCA 22-036 Authorizing the expenditure of funds awarded from Tulsa County Health Department to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health for the Infusion Clinic at Council Oak Comprehensive Hospital. Rep. Crawford sponsored the resolution, which passed 4-0.
MCNDH is in receipt of $500,000.00 from Tulsa County Health Department for the Health Infusion Clinic at Council Oak.
NCA 22-037 A law of Muscogee (Creek) Nation creating a new subchapter 7, entitled “Muscogee (Creek) National Council Scholarship” in MCNCA title 18 chapter 4 entitled “Higher Education and Vocational Scholarships and Grants.” Rep. Thomasene Yahola Osborn sponsored the resolution, which passed 4-0 and will be forwarded to the Business, Finance and Justice Committee for funding source.
The scholarship will be for a Post-Graduate student who has demonstrated leadership skills while obtaining his/her degree.
Two of these scholarships shall be awarded, one for the spring semester and one for the fall semester. Must meet the requirements of enrolled MCN citizen, pursuing first-time Master’s/Doctorate either full time/part-time, must adhere to the application requirements by the Scholarship Foundation and provide support documentation demonstrating leadership skills.
NCA 22-047 A law of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation authorizing an appropriation for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation to host the “Mvskoke Opunvkv Kerretv Vtelokv (Mvskoke Language Symposium). Rep. Marshall sponsored the resolution, which passed 4-0 and will be forwarded to the BFJ committee for funding source.
The Mvskoke Language Symposium is dedicated to providing access to the Mvskoke Language community by fostering an inclusive environment of community outreach efforts to discuss current trends and issues in language revitalization, promotion and acquisition.
The two-day program will be held at the College of the Muscogee Nation, dates and times to be determined.
