OKMULGEE, Okla. – The 2025 Muscogee Festival Slow Pitch Softball Tournaments kicked off on Saturday, June 21. The events ran through Sunday and were held at the Jim Waller Sports Complex in Preston this year.
Due to unfinished construction at the softball fields at the Claude Cox Omniplex in Okmulgee, the tournaments were moved to the Preston venue. However, the change in location did nothing to slow down the fierce competition between the various teams.
In total, seven teams competed in the men’s slow pitch tournament, eight teams competed in the women’s tournament, and eighteen teams competed in the Coed tournament.
Organizer David Pascale, Program Development Supervisor at MCN Recreation, enjoyed the competition and was excited with the turnout this year.
“Yeah, it’s a good turnout. They’re knocking a lot of home runs and there’s been some pretty competitive games in that aspect. … Everyone’s really positive about the move out here just for this year,” says Pascale.
With next year’s festival a celebration of the 50th annual gathering, Pascale hopes the new fields and anniversary will draw record crowds. “Next year, it’ll be bigger, our fields will be ready to go for next year, and so the 50th anniversary will probably bring in record crowds. It’ll be huge.”
